The New Year is an excellent time to get organized, especially for your business. An organized company is a productive company, and that is why now is the perfect time to clear up your office. The following are four tips that will help you clean up, and stay tidy this year.



It may be inevitable never to have a few things laying around, but the start of the new year is a great time to go through your desk, cabinets, and other office area and get rid of anything that you no longer need or that is broken. Keep the basics, but recycle or throw out anything that is just clutter. You can also donate or sell any furniture, office supplies or electronics that have no use.


Clean Out Electronics

Be sure to declutter your computer, tablet, phone and other electronics. If your inbox has become a catchall for every email you have received, it’s time to clean house. Delete any old voicemails and texts, organize your essential emails in corresponding folders, and update to the latest software. Today’s business world revolves around electronics, so it is becoming critical to maintain electronic organization.


Find a Home

During your office purge, be sure to find a home for everything. This may mean you need more storage space, like buying a new cabinet or new files. Maria Spetalnik, the founder of Conquer the Clutter, says an important first step is to find a place for your paperwork to live. Many make the mistake of letting bills and other documents pile up and then shifting them around to accommodate additional clutter. Be sure always to file necessary papers, color code, label each file according, and organize alphabetically.

The cloud is a network of servers, of various functions, that store information digitally. An easy way to stay organized is by using some cloud service. The best part of using the cloud is that you can access it anywhere. Through the cloud, each smartphone, computer and mobile tablet that you use can gain access to the same files and document organization making everything consistent.
